Accurate Damage Revised to Over Forty‑Five Million Baht at Thai Hospital After Cambodian Attack
Ministry of Public Health unveils comprehensive assessment of harm to Phanom Dong Rak Hospital
Thailand’s Ministry of Public Health has confirmed that Phanom Dong Rak Hospital in Surin Province sustained more than forty‑five million baht in damage during a recent Cambodian military strike.
A field inspection conducted on August second by Surin provincial health officials revealed extensive structural damage, including compromised foundations in four buildings requiring reconstruction.
Initial estimates, based solely on aerial imagery, had placed losses at approximately three million three hundred fifty thousand baht.
The revised breakdown allocates seven million baht in damage each to the Phumipat and Khwanphumin buildings, fifteen million baht to the Luang Ta Rod building, and fifteen million baht to the nurses’ dormitory.
Additional damages include the roof of a restroom, a guard post, an exit sign and multiple external roofs, each assessed at under half a million baht.
The hospital had been evacuated prior to the strike, and patient relocations were managed under emergency protocols.
