Finnair to Boost Thailand Services to Record 25 Weekly Flights in Winter 2026/27
Finnish carrier adds daily Bangkok service and relaunches Krabi route as demand for Thai travel resurges
Finland’s national carrier, Finnair, has announced a substantial expansion of its Thailand network for the winter 2026/27 season, raising total weekly flights to 25 and relaunching direct service to Krabi.
Currently operating three daily flights to Bangkok, the airline will add a fourth daily departure from Helsinki to Bangkok in winter 2026, while also reinstating a twice-weekly Helsinki–Krabi route on Mondays and Thursdays—the airline’s first Krabi service since pre-pandemic.
The afternoon arrival into Bangkok and late-evening return departure to Helsinki are designed to optimise connections across Europe via Helsinki’s hub, offering Nordic travellers enhanced flexibility and timing.
Thailand’s appeal as a warm-weather destination for European passengers has driven the decision, and Finnair views the expansion as an important step in rebuilding its Asia-Pacific network following air-space restrictions in recent years.
Industry observers note the move strengthens Helsinki’s role as a gateway between Europe and Southeast Asia, particularly as Finnair leverages its geographical advantage for fast transit and comfort on long-haul routes.
The added capacity reflects both growing tourist interest in Thailand and Finnair’s strategy of capacity restoration and network diversification.
Thailand’s tourism authorities welcome the increase, which supports broader government efforts to welcome more international flights and destinations during the upcoming winter season.
The enhanced connectivity is likely to benefit both Finnish leisure travellers and Thailand’s tourism economy, reinforcing bilateral aviation ties and signalling confidence in long-term demand for the route.
The expanded schedule is expected to go into effect for the winter season, typically running from late October 2026 through March 2027, subject to final regulatory approvals and schedule confirmation.
For travellers planning to book early, the announcement offers additional options, while the Krabi service provides a direct link to Thailand’s southern beach destinations from the Nordic region for the first time in nearly six years.
