Hungary Reaffirms Support for Thailand with Focus on Education and Investment
During an official visit, Hungary pledges to deepen bilateral ties by emphasising education, investment and humanitarian cooperation with Thailand.
On the second day of an official visit to Hungary on 3 November 2025, Thailand’s House Speaker and President of the King Prajadhipok Institute, Wan Muhamad Noor Matha, held a meeting with Hungarian Deputy Prime Minister Zsolt Semjén, marking a key moment in bilateral cooperation between the two countries.
During the meeting, Semjén conveyed the condolences of the Hungarian people to Their Majesties the King and Queen of Thailand and to the Thai nation following the passing of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit, the Queen Mother.
The Hungarian side expressed warm appreciation for Thailand’s support at recent international forums, while confirming the forthcoming visit of Thailand’s Foreign Minister Sihasak Phuangketkeow on 19 November 2025. Wan Noor thanked Hungary for backing Thailand’s emergency resolution at the Inter-Parliamentary Union meeting and reiterated Thailand’s parallel commitment to humanitarian causes aligned with United Nations resolutions.
Beyond diplomatic courtesies, the two nations outlined deeper cooperation in education and investment.
Hungary signalled its readiness to support Thai efforts in skills development, scholarly exchange, and capacity-building programmes.
Thailand emphasised the shared objective of fostering global peace, and pledged to expand collaboration with Hungary in sectors including education, technology transfer and business investment.
This meeting signals a strengthening of the Thailand–Hungary partnership as both countries seek to broaden their global reach.
For Thailand, the engagement dovetails with its strategy of enlisting education and investment partnerships to reinforce its international influence.
For Hungary, the collaboration aligns with its goal of raising economic growth and diversifying ties beyond the European region.
As both sides prepare for the Foreign Minister’s visit later this month, attention will centre on concrete initiatives in education-training exchanges and targeted investment flows that reflect the bilateral agenda agreed in Budapest.
