Monkeys Escape and Invade Police Station in Lop Buri, Thailand
Over 200 Monkeys Flee Enclosure, Enter Nearby Police Station
On November 16, 2024, more than 200 monkeys escaped from a cage at the Pho Khao Ton Monkey Nursery in the Muang district of Lop Buri, Thailand.
The incident occurred when the monkeys managed to break free from their enclosure, which houses approximately 300 monkeys captured from the city of Lop Buri.
The escape led the primates to wander into nearby areas, including Tha Hin police station and local homes.
The monkeys breached the cage structure by collectively rocking it, overwhelming its integrity.
In the aftermath, the municipality repaired the cage, and by Sunday, about 40 monkeys had returned in search of food.
The Department of National Parks, Wildlife and Plant Conservation dispatched personnel to help recapture the remaining monkeys.
