Toyota widens lead as Motor Expo 2025 reaches halfway mark with 28,254 car bookings
Mid-event figures show Toyota in front, strong demand for EVs pushes Chinese brands up the rankings
The 42nd Thailand International Motor Expo — known as Motor Expo 2025 — has reached its halfway point, with booking totals between November 28 and December 4 reaching 28,254 units.
Among car manufacturers, Toyota leads by a substantial margin.
Toyota tops the ranking with 4,808 units booked so far.
It is followed by Chinese electric-vehicle brand BYD with 2,537 bookings, then Honda with 2,314, GAC with 1,819, MG with 1,804 and Geely with 1,667.
This year’s show has seen particularly strong demand for electric vehicles priced between 400,000 and 700,000 baht.
Among the most sought-after is the Geely EX2, which starts at 399,900 baht.
Other consistently popular models include the BYD Dolphin, JAECOO 5, MG4 and the ORA Good Cat.
Rever Automotive, the distributor for BYD in Thailand, has emphasized that the prices offered at Motor Expo 2025 are the lowest available this year — and they do not expect them to go any lower.
The company added that once the event is over, prices will rise, particularly for stock that remains or new production under the EV 3.5 policy scheme.
Some BYD models are already running low on available inventory.
Stock for the Thailand-built ATTO 3 Premium, priced at 629,900 baht, as well as imported SEAL Premium (899,900 baht) and SEAL AWD Performance (999,900 baht), is reportedly down to fewer than one hundred units each.
The strong mid-event figures reflect a continued shift in the Thai automotive market: while established names such as Toyota and Honda remain popular, evocative electric models from Chinese manufacturers are gaining ground.
For buyers and industry watchers alike, the coming days of Motor Expo 2025 may prove decisive for the direction of automotive demand in Thailand.
