Anutin Confirms Readiness to Form Government and Assume Premiership
Bhumjaithai leader secures support from key parties and defecting Pheu Thai MPs, pledges swift reforms and dissolution of parliament within four months
Anutin Charnvirakul, leader of the Bhumjaithai Party, declared his readiness to form a new government and take on the role of prime minister following the Constitutional Court’s ruling that dissolved the previous cabinet.
Speaking at Bhumjaithai headquarters on August 21, Anutin appeared alongside Members of Parliament prepared to back his leadership, emphasizing his commitment to resolving the nation’s crises and restoring political stability.
Anutin stressed that the ruling coalition must not allow Thailand to stall in the wake of the court’s decision.
He announced that Bhumjaithai had reached agreement with the People’s Party on key conditions, including holding a public referendum on constitutional amendments, restoring national peace, and addressing strained relations with neighboring countries.
Once these core issues are tackled, Anutin pledged to dissolve parliament within four months of assuming office, returning power directly to the people through fresh elections.
“We are determined to solve the problems of the nation and return authority to the citizens as soon as possible,” Anutin stated.
He added that the cooperation between his group and the People’s Party was based on shared principles and a genuine desire to deliver solutions.
Additional discussions have also taken place with Kla Tham Party members, further strengthening the coalition’s parliamentary base.
Deputy Commerce Minister Suchart Chomklin confirmed that 16 MPs had exercised their rights to support Anutin, stressing that unity was essential to help the country move forward amid global and domestic economic challenges.
Meanwhile, the Palang Pracharath Party voiced its endorsement of Anutin, noting that the country’s difficult economic situation required strong leadership and collective effort.
In a notable development, Kanchanaburi MP Sakda Wichiensilp of the Pheu Thai Party announced his support for Anutin, bringing along more than ten MPs from his faction.
He underscored that his decision was made independently, not in defiance of Pheu Thai, but out of concern for the livelihoods of ordinary citizens.
“I represent rural people and see their hardships every day.
I believe Anutin is the most suitable person to lead Thailand at this time,” Sakda said.
The emerging coalition signals a decisive shift in Thailand’s political landscape, with Anutin positioned to lead a government focused on stability, economic revival, and a rapid return of electoral power to the public.
