British Man Arrested in Thailand for the Murder of His Thai Wife in 2004
62-year-old suspect apprehended after two-decade investigation into the death of Lamduan Seekanya in the UK
David Stuart Armitage, a 62-year-old British man, has been arrested in Kanchanaburi province, Thailand, in connection with the 2004 murder of his Thai wife, Lamduan Seekanya.
Armitage, who had fled the UK and been residing in Thailand for an extended period, was apprehended by Thailand's Immigration Bureau and the Department of Special Investigation (DSI) on January 23, 2025. The arrest concludes a 20-year investigation into the death of Lamduan, whose body was found in Yorkshire Dales National Park in the UK in 2004. Initially unidentified, the woman, known as the 'Lady of the Hills', was later confirmed through DNA testing to be Lamduan Seekanya, a Thai woman who had moved to the UK after marrying Armitage.
She had been in contact with her family about abuse by her husband before losing all communication.
In 2014, UK investigators reopened the case, linking Lamduan's disappearance to Armitage.
The suspect, now arrested under the Immigration Act and mutual legal assistance laws between Thailand and the UK, will be extradited to the UK to face trial for her murder.
