Chevron Appoints ABL for Major Offshore Platform and Rig Services in the Gulf of Thailand
ABL secures marine warranty survey and rig-move support contract with Chevron Thailand Exploration
Chevron Thailand Exploration and Production, Ltd. (Chevron Thailand Exploration) has awarded a work order to ABL Group ASA’s Thailand operations to provide marine warranty survey (MWS) and third‐party support services for upcoming wellhead platform installations and jack‐up rig moves in the Gulf of Thailand.
The contract, confirmed on November 3 2025, covers Chevron’s offshore subsidiaries including Chevron Offshore (Thailand) Ltd. and Chevron Pattani Ltd. and addresses key activities such as desktop document reviews, suitability surveys, load-out and towage approvals, and lifted installation assessments.
According to the announcement, ABL’s Thailand team will lead execution, backed by the company’s regional offices in Malaysia and Singapore.
“With the competency of our ABL team across the Asia-Pacific region and our local expertise in Thailand, we are uniquely positioned to provide a diverse scope of work,” commented Mingkwan Surasorn, Country Manager for ABL Thailand.
Simon Healy, Regional Managing Director for Asia Pacific, added that ABL’s integrated approach—combining marine warranty, dynamic positioning assurance and diving audits—“enables safer, smarter operations” across Chevron’s Gulf of Thailand activities.
Marine warranty surveying is a critical element in offshore construction, enabling the independent assessment of marine operations and ensuring adherence to industry standards and insurer requirements.
ABL’s global track record spans more than a thousand offshore construction projects.
The award underscores Chevron’s commitment to executing complex platform installation and rig‐moving campaigns in Southeast Asia with enhanced oversight and risk management.
The agreement aligns with Chevron’s broader strategy in Thailand’s offshore sector, which includes platform installations, wellhead interventions and decommissioning projects in the Gulf of Thailand.
By engaging ABL’s assurance services at an early stage, Chevron is bolstering the safe and efficient delivery of its offshore production and platform campaigns.
