Diplomatic and Business Leaders Move to Strengthen Thailand–South Korea Economic Partnership
Envoy and Herald Group chief outline initiatives to expand investment, trade and cultural cooperation between the two countries
Senior diplomatic and business leaders from Thailand and South Korea have pledged to deepen economic cooperation and expand commercial ties, highlighting new opportunities for investment, trade and cultural exchange between the two countries.
During a meeting focused on strengthening bilateral relations, Thailand’s ambassador to South Korea and the chief executive of Herald Media Group discussed ways to enhance collaboration across several sectors, including technology, tourism, media and advanced manufacturing.
Both sides emphasised the importance of closer partnerships between Thai and Korean companies as regional economies evolve and new markets emerge.
The discussions reflected growing interest in expanding economic engagement between the two nations.
South Korea is one of Thailand’s important trading partners in Asia, with bilateral trade covering sectors such as electronics, automotive manufacturing, petrochemicals and consumer goods.
Participants in the meeting noted that stronger collaboration between media organisations, cultural institutions and business networks could help promote investment and tourism while increasing awareness of economic opportunities in both countries.
The Herald Media Group expressed interest in playing a greater role in supporting business connections and information exchange between Korean investors and Thai partners.
Thailand’s envoy highlighted the country’s commitment to strengthening its international economic partnerships and promoting Thailand as a competitive destination for foreign investment.
Officials said the government continues to advance policies aimed at attracting global businesses in industries such as digital technology, electric vehicles, renewable energy and logistics.
Tourism cooperation was also identified as a key area for expansion.
South Korea remains one of the most significant sources of visitors to Thailand, while Thai travellers are increasingly visiting Korean cities for leisure, culture and education.
Both sides discussed opportunities to promote cultural exchanges, travel partnerships and joint tourism campaigns.
Business leaders said deeper economic ties between Thailand and South Korea could create new opportunities for companies in both markets.
Korean firms have long maintained a strong presence in Thailand’s manufacturing sector, particularly in automotive production and electronics assembly, while Thai companies are expanding their investments and partnerships across Northeast Asia.
The dialogue highlighted the broader importance of regional cooperation in an increasingly complex global economy.
By strengthening business networks, encouraging investment and promoting cultural connections, leaders from both sides signalled their intention to elevate Thailand–South Korea economic relations in the years ahead.
