Florida Family Utilizes Apple AirTag to Track Stolen Luggage from North Carolina Airport to Suspect's Home
A Miami family used an Apple AirTag to trace their stolen suitcase from a North Carolina airport directly to the thief's home. Catherine Gavino and her relatives were traveling to the Carolinas for Christmas when their luggage went missing at Charlotte Douglas International Airport. Using the AirTag concealed within their belongings, Gavino tracked the bag to a neighborhood in Gastonia but initially couldn't pinpoint its exact location.
The family paused their search but resumed on Christmas, eventually finding the precise house where their luggage was located. After police intervention, their suitcase was recovered, albeit emptied of its contents. The Gavinos also helped uncover another stolen suitcase at the same location. The suspect, linked to multiple thefts, was arrested and held on a $10,000 bond. The police investigation continues.
