A recent survey conducted by the Electronic Transactions Development Agency (ETDA) and the National Science Technology Development Agency (NSTDA) reveals a strong inclination towards AI adoption among Thai firms.
17.8% of organisations have already implemented AI technology, with 73.3% planning to adopt it in the near future.
The survey sampled 580 organisations from a pool of 3,758 between July and September 2024, covering sectors from agriculture to finance.
Results indicate increased readiness and capability in AI usage, with goals centered around efficiency, management improvement, and value creation.
The survey also highlights challenges related to skills shortages, data quality, and funding.
Notably, no respondents aim to replace jobs entirely with AI, preferring instead to train personnel to work alongside AI technologies.
The Thai government, through the National Electronics and Computer Technology Center (NECTEC), is focusing on forming a National AI committee and a national AI center to further AI development, supported by a proposed budget of 1 billion baht.
ETDA will soon release guidelines for managing GenAI risks and is exploring AI regulations for emerging technologies.
