Ongoing Border Hostilities and Civilian Evacuations in Thailand

The Second Army Region reports significant civilian evacuations and continued shelling despite a ceasefire agreement.
Border hostilities persist following a ceasefire agreement, as reported by the Second Army Region.

The situation has prompted extensive evacuations across several provinces to ensure civilian safety.

Provincial authorities have been actively relocating individuals from danger zones to designated evacuation centers in safer inland areas.

As of the latest update, a total of 137,998 individuals have been relocated.

The breakdown of evacuees is as follows: Buri Ram has reported 14,551 evacuees at one center; Surin has 54,114 evacuees across 92 centers; Si Sa Ket has 47,521 evacuees at 187 centers; and Ubon Ratchathani has 21,812 evacuees at 68 centers.

This represents an increase of 18,926 evacuees since the previous report.

The impact on civilians has been considerable.

Multiple areas have reported damage from artillery and BM-21 rocket fire.

Specific incidents include the landing of four artillery shells in Ban Skor, Moo 12, and four additional shells in Ban Thai Niyom, Moo 17, both located in Bak Dai subdistrict, Surin.

In another incident in Surin, ten shells landed in Ban Nong Ta Loeb, Moo 14, and three shells impacted homes in Ban Nong Joop, Moo 2, Ta Miang subdistrict.

Moreover, in Si Sa Ket, four BM-21 rockets fell in Ban Phum Srol Mai, Moo 12, and similar incidents were reported in Ban Phum Srol and Ban Sao Thong Chai, also resulting in property damage.

Fortunately, no civilian injuries or fatalities have been reported thus far.

To assist with ongoing efforts, 2,831 volunteers have been deployed across the affected provinces.

This group includes Royal Volunteer 904 officers, civilian volunteers, and military cadets, who are aiding in shelter operations, logistics, and public information dissemination.

In a bid to address food insecurity among evacuees, royal kitchens and mobile units have been established to distribute over 153,000 food boxes across Buri Ram, Surin, Si Sa Ket, and Ubon Ratchathani.

Additionally, His Majesty the King has extended royal patronage to those injured and to the families of the deceased.

The Second Army Region has urged all evacuees, whether residing in temporary shelters or with relatives outside danger zones, to remain in their current locations until the security situation has been thoroughly reassessed in collaboration with national security agencies.

Further instructions will be communicated as developments occur.
