Popular Waterfalls Closed Due to Heavy Rain in Chiang Mai
Heavy overnight rain has closed Mae Sa and Tat Mok waterfalls in Doi Suthep-Pui National Park, Chiang Mai, due to safety concerns from flooding. Wang Hai weir in Chiang Dao district was also breached, causing significant flooding. Authorities are monitoring the Ping River levels to prevent potential flooding in downtown Chiang Mai.
Heavy overnight rain causing torrential runoff has led to the closure of Mae Sa and Tat Mok waterfalls in Doi Suthep-Pui National Park, Chiang Mai.
Announced on the park’s Facebook page, the closure is for public safety following flash floods in multiple districts, including Mae Rim where the waterfalls are located.
Wang Hai weir in Nuang Khong village, Chiang Dao district, was breached, flooding surrounding areas.
Chiang Dao district chief Krittaphon Ratchathamethanon and officials inspected the damage.
Rain also affected Phrao, Samoeng, Chom Thong, San Pa Tong, Mae Wang, Hang Dong, Mae Cham, Galyani Vadhana, Wiang Haeng, Mae Taeng, Mae Rim, and Muang districts.
