The appeal of vinyl, including its cover art and rich sound, led to over 250,000 sales in one week. Taylor Swift was the top-selling vinyl artist this year, propelled by her re-recorded albums, with 1989 and Speak Now being fan favorites.
Vinyl LP purchases have increased for the 16th year, with an 11.7% rise in 2023 to nearly 6 million records. Other top vinyl artists include Blur and Lana Del Rey. Meanwhile, CD sales continued to fall, although at a slower rate, dropping by 6.6% to around 10.6 million. Cassette sales remain stable, passing 100,000 for the fourth year. Overall, physical music format sales are nearly stable, declining by just 1%.
