Thailand’s digital content industry has achieved a strong recovery, reaching a total value of 50.609 billion baht in 2024, according to the Digital Economy Promotion Agency (depa).
The annual study, conducted in collaboration with leading industry associations, reported overall growth of 14% along with a positive three-year outlook.
The 2024 survey of Thailand’s digital content sector covered games, animation, characters, and e-books.
The research was jointly carried out by depa, the Digital Content Association of Thailand (DCAT), the Thai Animation and Computer Graphics Association (TACGA), the Thai Game Software Industry Association (TGA), the Bangkok ACM SIGGRAPH Business Association, and IMC Outsourcing (Thailand).
The character industry recorded the most remarkable growth, soaring 196% to reach 7.232 billion baht.
According to Anita Tantassirin, a board member of the Digital Content Association of Thailand, this expansion was largely driven by the global art toy trend.
Character merchandising alone rose by 506% to 6.078 billion baht.
The report emphasized that Thai producers have effectively capitalized on international demand, aligning with popular global brands such as Pop Mart, Qposket, Nendoroid, Funko Pop, and Cosbaby, underscoring the industry’s adaptability to global markets.
