Vinfast Expands EV Business in Thailand: Aiming for Growth in Southeast Asia's Largest EV Market
Vinfast, a Vietnamese electric vehicle (EV) maker, is aiming to enter Thailand's EV market due to its rapid growth and attractive incentives from the Thai government.
The company plans to first export EVs to Thailand before deciding on investing in an assembly plant.
The Thai government's promotion of the EV industry through incentives has encouraged Vinfast to expand its business in the country.
Vinfast, a Vietnamese electric vehicle (EV) company, is considering building an EV factory in Thailand but has not made a final decision yet.
They are currently in discussions with the Board of Investment regarding investment privilege packages for foreign firms.
The company's initial focus is on selling more EVs in the ASEAN region, as they are not subject to tariffs when exporting to countries under the AFTA.
Established in 2017, Vinfast began producing EVs in 2021 and is also building factories in the US, India, and planning to build a new one in Indonesia.
Vinfast aims to export electric vehicles (EVs) to 50 countries this year, including Thailand, which marks their first step in introducing EVs in the country.
They have established a network of 15 dealers with 22 showrooms in major cities like Bangkok, Chiang Mai, and Ubon Ratchathani.
Vinfast sees an opportunity for growth in sustainable transport trends in Thailand, and their dealers share the same vision.
Besides Thailand, Vinfast is also expanding to countries in Asean, the Middle East, and Africa.
