World Bank Expects China's Economy to Grow by 4.5% in 2024
The World Bank forecasts China's economy to expand by 4.5% in 2024, with a slight decrease to 4.3% in 2025, citing a "fragile" recovery
In their recent report, the bank highlighted "considerable downside risks," including a weak real estate sector, subdued global demand, and structural challenges such as high debt, an aging population, and reduced productivity growth.
These projections are an upward revision from the previous estimates of 5.1% for this year and 4.4% for the next, as reported in October.
The latest official statistics show a 4.9% increase in China's GDP in the third quarter of 2023, and 1.3% growth from July to September, improving upon a 0.5% growth in the prior quarter.
