AIS and Gulf to Install Solar-Powered Telecom Infrastructure in Remote Thai Areas
AIS and Gulf are collaborating with the Highland Research and Development Institute to bring solar-powered telecom infrastructure to remote areas in Thailand. The project will initially focus on Tak, Mae Hong Son, and Chiang Mai provinces, with plans to expand to 30 more areas in the next five years. This initiative aims to reduce social inequality, improve education, and enhance public health in underserved communities.
In a collaborative effort, AIS, Gulf, and the Highland Research and Development Institute (HRDI) aim to install solar-powered telecom infrastructure in remote regions of Thailand.
The 'GREEN ENERGY GREEN NETWORK FOR THAIS' project seeks to deliver solar-generated electricity and telecom base stations to five highland communities by the end of the year, including sites in Tak, Mae Hong Son, and Chiang Mai provinces.
Over the next five years, the initiative plans to expand to 30 additional areas without electricity or mobile networks.
Ban Dok Mai Sod and Moko Poke villages in Tak province have already received the necessary infrastructure.
AIS CEO Somchai Lertsuthiwong emphasizes that the project aims to reduce social inequality and enhance economic growth through sustainable digital technologies.
Gulf COO Theerathiphisa Tawichpasoot highlights that beyond providing electricity, the collaboration with AIS aims to bridge the digital divide, improve education, career development, and public health.
The HRDI Chairman Chavalit Chookajorn notes that there are over 2,000 highland communities lacking basic services, and this project has significant potential to uplift these areas.
Maintenance and monitoring will be managed using advanced technologies to ensure sustained benefits.
