China's Trade Outlook for 2024: Resilience Amid Global Challenges
Ministry of Commerce Forecasts Continued Strength in China's Trade Performance
China Radio International reports that China's Ministry of Commerce predicts continued strength in the country's trade performance for 2024, despite ongoing global economic challenges.
According to the Department of Foreign Trade, China is projected to maintain a significant share of the international export market, accounting for 14.2% in 2023. This marks the seventh consecutive year that China has held the top position in global trade.
Despite the world economy's slow recovery, China has demonstrated resilience by maintaining a stable share in the international market, showcasing its developmental strength.
Looking ahead to 2024, the World Trade Organization (WTO) forecasts a modest increase of 2.6% in global trade growth, compared to 2023's 3.8% rise. There are signs of potential trade recovery in the first quarter of 2024.
However, the WTO warns of increasing uncertainties, including regional conflicts and trade protectionism, which could negatively impact global trade. To address these challenges, China's Ministry of Commerce is collaborating with localities and stakeholders to formulate practical policies aligned with the directives of the Communist Party of China and the Chinese Government.
Despite the external complexities, China remains proactive in navigating the evolving global trade landscape, reaffirming its commitment to sustaining and enhancing its trade performance in 2024.
