The Oil Fuel Fund Office is gaining support to manage its struggling fund better. Offo may end universal diesel and LPG subsidies to focus on specific groups, aiming to reduce excessive spending and debt. Public input will influence amendments to the 2019 Offo Act.
The Oil Fuel Fund Office (Offo) is gaining support from tax authorities and energy advocates to better manage the struggling Oil Fuel Fund.
According to recent public hearings, Offo may end universal subsidies for diesel and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) to focus on specific groups, such as low-income earners and vehicle operators.
The aim is to curb excessive spending and debt accumulation.
Notably, Excise Department official Bunchon Songsamphant highlighted the need for a balanced approach to subsidies.
Additionally, former senator Rosana Tositrakul pointed out the unfair levy burden on gasoline consumers, stressing the need for fair returns.
Input from these hearings will influence amendments to the 2019 Offo Act.
