Japan’s Prime Minister Extends Condolences After Deadly Floods in Thailand and Indonesia

Sanae Takaichi issues heartfelt sympathy as both nations grapple with severe flooding and rising casualties
Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi has conveyed her condolences to Thailand and Indonesia following the devastating floods that have swept through both countries, leaving significant loss of life and widespread disruption.

Her message, shared as rescue workers continue to confront rising death tolls and large-scale displacement, underscored Japan’s solidarity with two nations that maintain longstanding and close regional ties.

The prime minister expressed sorrow for the families of victims and reaffirmed Japan’s support for relief efforts underway in the affected regions.

Thailand has been battered by days of intense rainfall that triggered flash floods, damaging infrastructure and overwhelming emergency services.

Indonesia has faced similarly destructive conditions, with severe inundation and landslides reported across multiple provinces.

In both countries, local authorities have mobilised rescue teams, temporary shelters and humanitarian assistance for communities forced from their homes.

Japan’s message resonates against the backdrop of increasingly volatile regional weather patterns, as well as the interconnected resilience efforts shared across East and Southeast Asia.

Takaichi’s outreach reflects a commitment to strengthening cooperative disaster response mechanisms and maintaining Japan’s role as a reliable partner during regional crises.

As floodwaters gradually recede, both Thailand and Indonesia are beginning long recovery processes that will require sustained resources, coordinated planning and international support.
