On the Road to the Oscars? Meghan Markle to Star in a New Film

The Duchess is set to return to acting in an Amazon production alongside Lily Collins and Brie Larson — her first role since leaving the series 'Suits' to marry Prince Harry.
Meghan Markle is returning to her professional roots.

The Duchess of Sussex will appear in a new film titled 'Close Personal Friends,' produced by Amazon and starring alongside Hollywood actresses Lily Collins and Brie Larson.

This marks Markle’s first acting role since she left the television series 'Suits' in 2017 to marry Prince Harry, a year later.

A source close to Markle described the opportunity as 'a big moment for her,' adding that 'she’s going back to doing what she truly loves.

She’s been flooded with offers, but this one felt right.' The source explained that Markle views this as a gentle way to rediscover acting, saying, 'It’s her way of seeing whether she still enjoys it.

The entire team is very excited and committed to keeping her involvement confidential.'

While her return has drawn significant attention, reports indicate that Markle will not be taking on a major or particularly dramatic role — she will, in fact, be playing herself.

The part is expected to be modest, though as the saying goes, there are no small roles, only small actors.

Opinions about Markle’s acting talent remain mixed.

The timing of the announcement has also raised eyebrows, coming soon after reports that senior Hollywood executives have grown reluctant to offer Meghan and Harry new opportunities following several underperforming projects.

Markle’s acting career began humbly, with an uncredited background appearance in the sitcom 'Married.

with Children.' She later appeared in shows such as '90210,' 'Fringe,' 'CSI: Miami,' and 'Castle.' Her breakthrough came in 'Suits,' where she starred from 2011 until her departure.

Though she stepped away from acting after her marriage, Markle and Prince Harry signed a major production deal with Netflix, agreeing to produce documentaries, children’s series, scripted films, and lifestyle programs.

However, only a fraction of these projects were completed, and the ones released drew modest viewership.

Markle’s lifestyle show struggled with ratings, and her podcast series lasted only a few episodes.

Recently, she has focused on building her personal brand, launching a holiday product line.

Despite the criticism, Prince Harry is said to be fully supportive of her latest move.

'Harry supports her completely and wants her to do whatever makes her happy,' a source close to the couple said.
