Prime Minister Commends Strong 'Heart-to-Heart Partnership' with Japan
During the 50th Anniversary Summit of ASEAN-Japan Friendship and Cooperation in Tokyo, PM Srettha highlighted that Japan has long been a vital ally and major investor for ASEAN and Thailand. The summit covered topics like investment, tourism, clean energy, and the digital economy.
Emphasizing the solid partnership, PM Srettha announced a forthcoming visa exemption to facilitate Japanese business travels to Thailand, responding to a request from the previous APEC Summit in San Francisco.
In his speeches at the summit, PM Srettha underscored the enduring partnership through education and cultural exchanges, which bolsters mutual trust and understanding. He noted Japan's position as a trusted friend and the potential for ASEAN and Japan to become powerful economic forces by 2030.
PM Srettha advocated for the ASEAN-Japan Comprehensive Connectivity Initiative and encouraged additional Japanese investment, particularly in infrastructure, to enhance shared prosperity and connectivity. He heralded Japan's significant investment in the region as a sign of commitment.
He also drew attention to the need to boost supply chain resilience and cost-effective transportation, spotlighting Thailand's Land Bridge Project as an opportunity for investor participation, aligning with the country's economic growth strategy.
