Srettha Encourages Japanese Firms to Expedite Decision-Making
Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin has called on Japanese firms in Thailand to be more decisive, especially as Chinese companies gain a larger market share
He spoke with industry leaders from Toyota, Honda, Nissan, Isuzu, and Suzuki.
Srettha, who transitioned from business to politics, stressed that Japanese companies must adapt swiftly in a competitive market where Chinese carmakers now hold approximately 80% of Thailand's EV market.
He reassured that Thailand will remain an automotive export hub and expressed his desire for Japanese car manufacturers, with over six decades of operations in Thailand, to continue contributing to the country's economy.
This visit to Japan is Srettha's first since his inauguration on September 5, and he is scheduled to meet with Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida to discuss the 50th anniversary of Japan-Asean relations.
