Tesla Expands Robotaxi Hiring to Thailand as Its Twentieth Country for Autonomous Data Collection
The electric vehicle maker posts new roles in Bangkok and Kowloon to support its Full Self-Driving and future Robotaxi ambitions
Tesla has launched a strategic expansion of its Robotaxi hiring initiative into Thailand, marking the twentieth country where the company is actively recruiting personnel to support its autonomous driving data collection efforts.
This week, the electric vehicle manufacturer posted job openings for full-time Vehicle Operator positions based in Bangkok and Kowloon, roles that are closely tied to gathering real-world driving data that feeds into the development of its Full Self-Driving (FSD) software and future dedicated Robotaxi network.
The Vehicle Operator roles focus on capturing diverse traffic behaviour and real-world scenarios, enabling Tesla’s neural networks to improve safety and performance as the company works toward broader autonomous capabilities beyond its current geofenced services in the United States and other select regions.
Thailand’s dense urban environments and complex road dynamics present valuable data opportunities as Tesla seeks to refine its AI models for global application.
This expansion underscores Tesla’s aggressive timeline to globalise its autonomous mobility systems and reflects its commitment to scaling data collection initiatives in a wide array of traffic conditions.
While Tesla’s commercial Robotaxi operations remain limited primarily to pilot programs in Austin, Texas and the San Francisco Bay Area, the geographic breadth of its data gathering footprint continues to grow.
By incorporating markets across Asia, Europe and North America into its dataset, Tesla aims to develop a more robust and universally adaptable autonomous driving platform that can one day support commercial Robotaxi services worldwide.
