Thai Government Urges Nationals to Leave Iran and Israel Amid Escalating Conflict
The Thai Ministry of Foreign Affairs advises immediate departure for citizens in high-risk areas as violence escalates.
The Thai Ministry of Foreign Affairs has issued a strong advisory urging Thai nationals in Israel and Iran to evacuate these regions promptly due to the ongoing conflict and rising violence.
Minister Maris Sangiampongsa emphasized the urgency of this directive, particularly as tensions have increased in the area.
As of now, there are 35 Thai citizens in Iran who have sought refuge at a temporary shelter, while five nationals have indicated their desire to leave.
In Israel, three Thai nationals have similarly expressed their intention to depart.
Minister Maris noted that the Thai embassies in both Israel and Iran are fully engaged in facilitating the safe and expedited departure of Thai citizens.
In response to the situation, senior officials from the ministry have been deployed to assist the embassies in Tel Aviv and Tehran, ensuring that necessary support is readily available.
Additionally, the Ministry of Labour has set up coordination and support centres in both countries specifically to safeguard Thai workers in these high-risk zones.
Permanent Secretary Boonsong Thapchaiyuth reported that these centres are actively monitoring the situation and providing assistance to Thai nationals employed in the affected areas.
There have been no reports of casualties or injuries among Thai nationals in connection with recent violence, according to government officials.
To further enhance safety, Thai workers in Israel and Iran have been encouraged to download the "Smart TOEA" mobile application, which is available on both Android and iOS devices.
Users are advised to enable location tracking functionality, allowing rescue teams to monitor their whereabouts and respond rapidly in emergencies.
The Thai government continues to assess the evolving situation, urging all citizens in the region to prioritize their safety and contact the embassies for assistance.
