Tomorrowland will stage its first Asian edition in Thailand in December 2026 under a minimum five-year agreement, according to Thailand’s tourism authorities. The organisers have selected Chonburi province to host the three-day event on privately owned land.
Thai authorities estimate the festival will inject more than three billion baht into the economy and create over fifteen thousand jobs. Investment linked to the event is expected to reach into the billions of baht.
Discussions to bring the festival to Thailand accelerated after late-June 2025 meetings between the prime minister and Tomorrowland’s leadership, including the chief executive and senior executives. Officials described the move as part of a wider plan to promote national "soft power" through large-scale cultural events.
Tomorrowland began in Belgium in 2005 and has since expanded with editions in the United States, Brazil and France. In 2023, the Belgian edition involved purchases from more than 1,200 domestic suppliers, supporting 557 full-time equivalent jobs and contributing 37 million euros to welfare gains, with total economic activity across two weekends nearing 281 million euros and approximately 1,900 additional full-time equivalent jobs. About 15,000 people were employed during the festival period.
WeAreOne.World, Tomorrowland’s organiser, reported revenues of 164 million euros in 2022 and 129 million euros in 2023, with a net profit of 8.4 million euros in 2023.
Independent studies have estimated Tomorrowland’s carbon footprint at close to 150,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent for a recent Belgian edition, largely driven by attendee air travel. The festival’s sustainability platform has announced targets to increase recycling rates and cut greenhouse-gas emissions, including the introduction of Sustainable Aviation Fuel within certain travel packages.
Chonburi was selected for its capacity and transport links, with access via three major airports serving the Bangkok metropolitan area and the Eastern Economic Corridor.
