Thailand Achieves Fifth Medal at Paris 2024 Olympics
Thai athlete Panipak Wongpattanakit won gold in taekwondo, defeating China's Qing, with her coach Chatchai Choi. Teerapong Silachai won silver in men's 61-kilogram weightlifting, and Surodchana Khambao won bronze in women's 49-kilogram weightlifting. Thailand now holds five medals at Paris 2024: one gold, two silver, and two bronze.
Thai taekwondo athlete Panipak Wongpattanakit secured a gold medal by defeating China's Qing in the final match, winning 6-2 after a close fight.
The victory was also a birthday gift for Panipak, with guidance from her coach Chatchai Choi.
In weightlifting, Teerapong Silachai earned a silver medal in the men’s 61-kilogram category with a total lift of 303 kilograms and broke his previous record.
Li Fabin of China won gold, and Morris Hampton of the US took bronze.
Surodchana Khambao added a bronze medal in the women's 49-kilogram weightlifting category with a 200-kilogram total lift.
China’s Hou Zhihui won gold, and Romanian Mihaela Valentina Cambei took silver.
Thailand's Olympic medal tally now stands at five, including one gold, two silver, and two bronze medals, earned in taekwondo, badminton, weightlifting, and boxing.
