Thailand Blocks Over 178,000 Illegal URLs to Combat Online Crime

The DES Ministry's Efforts Result in an 8.6-Fold Increase in Website Restrictions
The Digital Economy and Society (DES) Ministry of Thailand has successfully blocked access to more than 178,000 URLs associated with illegal websites and social media pages over the past 14 months.

DES Minister Prasert Chanthararuangthong announced that combating online crime remains a top priority for his ministry, which is working closely with internet service providers to restrict access to illegal online activities.

Between October 2023 and November 2023, a total of 178,609 URLs were blocked, averaging 12,757 URLs per month.

This effort represents a significant 8.6-fold increase compared to the previous year, where only 17,670 URLs were blocked.
