Thailand Launches 'Amazing Tourism Year 2025' Initiative
Government Aims for 40 Million Visitors and 3.4 Trillion Baht Revenue
Thailand's government is preparing for the 'Amazing Thailand Grand Tourism and Sports Year 2025' to boost tourism and generate significant revenue.
Spearheaded by Transport Minister Suriya Jungrungreangkit and the national tourism policy committee, the initiative aims to attract over 40 million foreign visitors and achieve 3.4 trillion baht in revenue.
Five major campaigns: Grand Festivity, Grand Moment, Grand Privilege, Grand Invitation, and Grand Celebration, are planned to support this goal.
These include events like MotoGP races and the Songkran festival, as well as visa process improvements and infrastructure development.
The Ministry of Tourism and Sports will detail these plans, focusing on collaborations to ensure tourist safety and enhance Thailand's image.
In 2023, Thailand recorded 31,313,787 foreign visitors, mainly from China, Malaysia, and India, generating 1.46 trillion baht.
Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra highlighted strategies involving unique cultural experiences, promoting lesser-known 'hidden gem cities', and packaging Thai culture into new travel routes to increase tourism revenue by 7.5%, targeting not only international visitors but over 205 million domestic vacations.
