Thailand Marks National Day in Seoul, Strengthening Ties With South Korea
Diplomatic celebration highlights Thailand’s leadership, cultural heritage, and growing strategic partnership with Seoul
Thailand marked its National Day in Seoul with a formal diplomatic reception that brought together South Korean officials, foreign diplomats, business leaders and members of the Thai community, underscoring the country’s expanding international presence and the strength of its partnership with South Korea.
The event carried added emotional significance as attendees observed a moment of silence in honour of Her Late Majesty Queen Sirikit The Queen Mother, whose legacy remains deeply revered among Thais worldwide.
Thailand’s ambassador highlighted the day’s converging commemorations — National Day, the birthday of the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej, Thailand’s Father’s Day, and World Soil Day — noting how these observances reflect the nation’s cultural depth and its long-standing commitment to sustainable development.
He reaffirmed Thailand’s forward-looking diplomatic strategy under its government, emphasising the country’s determination to strengthen regional and global cooperation.
South Korean officials, including senior representatives from government ministries, praised Thailand’s leadership role in Southeast Asia and reaffirmed the historic friendship linking the two nations since Thailand contributed forces during the Korean War.
They expressed confidence that Thailand and South Korea will continue advancing regional stability and shared prosperity.
The celebration also served to highlight fast-growing economic and cultural ties.
Both sides reiterated support for accelerating negotiations toward a Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement, a pact aimed at expanding trade, investment and technology collaboration.
People-to-people exchanges — including education partnerships, tourism growth and major cultural events — were noted as central pillars of a relationship that continues to deepen each year.
The evening in Seoul showcased Thailand’s diplomatic energy and its respected position on the world stage, reinforcing the momentum behind its partnership with South Korea and signalling a shared commitment to broader cooperation across Asia.
