Thailand Proposes 320 Million Baht Campaign to Boost Chinese Tourism
ATTA and TAT collaborate on charter flights and promotional initiatives to revive visitor numbers from China
The Association of Thai Travel Agents and the Tourism Authority of Thailand are discussing a proposal to allocate 320 million baht to stimulate Chinese tourism following a noted decline in arrivals.
The proposal includes two major initiatives.
The first, with a budget of 300 million baht, aims to subsidize one thousand charter flights from twenty secondary Chinese cities to Thailand over a three-month period.
Each flight must achieve a cabin load factor of seventy to eighty percent, equivalent to approximately one hundred fifty passengers.
Subsidies of between 350,000 and 450,000 baht per flight would be provided, with conditions requiring a minimum stay of four to five nights.
The second initiative, a 'mega fam trip' with a 20 million baht budget, will involve bringing three hundred Chinese tour agents and one hundred Chinese media representatives and influencers to Thailand.
The purpose of the trip is to experience Thai tourism products firsthand and communicate to the wider Chinese market that Thailand remains a safe and welcoming destination.
Plans also include an invitation for Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra to personally welcome the delegation, underscoring the government’s commitment to supporting Chinese visitors and promoting confidence in Thailand’s hospitality sector.
