The 19-year-old sprint sensation electrified the Suphachalasai National Stadium with a historic run, becoming the first Southeast Asian man to break the 10-second barrier in the 100m and then backing it up with a national record-setting double before anchoring his country to relay glory.
Boonson electrified the home crowd when he clocked a blistering 9.94 seconds in the preliminary round of the men’s 100m, a performance that shattered the Southeast Asian Games record and made him the first man from the region to dip below 10 seconds in the event.
He followed that with a composed 10.00-second run in the final to secure the gold medal, reaffirming his status as Thailand’s premier sprinter and one of the region’s top young athletes.
Two days later, Boonson continued his exceptional run by dominating the men’s 200m with a time of 20.07 seconds, a national and Games best, adding a second individual gold to his tally in front of a raucous Thai crowd.
His remarkable consistency highlighted his progress since competing at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games and marked a personal milestone in his rapidly ascending career.
Completing the athletics triple crown, Boonson teamed with his Thai teammates to claim the men’s 4×100 metres relay title in a Games record performance of 38.29 seconds, showcasing Thailand’s depth and coordination in sprint events and delighting the host nation with another gold medal.
Thailand’s athletics team overall delivered a strong showing throughout the competition, topping the medal table in track and field events with multiple podium finishes across sprint, distance and field disciplines.
The host nation’s success on the track reinforced Thailand’s position as a dominant force in Southeast Asian athletics and provided a celebratory highlight for the home contingent at the 33rd edition of the biennial Games.
Boonson’s triple victory on home soil will be remembered as one of the standout performances of the 2025 Southeast Asian Games, symbolising both his prodigious talent and the strength of Thailand’s athletics programme as it builds toward future regional and global competitions.
