Thailand to Exclusively Offer B7 and B20 Diesel Starting May
DOEB's Director-General Nanthika Thangsupanich explained that B7 diesel will consist of 6.6%-7% biodiesel, and B20 will have 19%-20% biodiesel, with the number signifying the biodiesel content. She emphasized the decision to phase out B10 diesel adheres to the Euro 5 oil standard preferred by auto manufacturers and ensures vehicle compatibility with a 7% biodiesel mix. Meanwhile, B20 will be available as an alternative fuel choice.
Despite ending B10 diesel sales, Nanthika noted that the use of palm oil, a primary biodiesel source, is not expected to decrease. Thailand's consumption of biodiesel and palm oil is currently at 4.33 million liters and 3.77 million kilograms daily, respectively, and is projected to rise modestly to 4.66 million liters and 3.88 million kilograms by next year.
