U Power and Whale Logistics to Deploy Up to 1,000 Battery-Swapping Electric Trucks in Thailand
Strategic partnership launches commercial rollout of clean energy truck tractors, with first deliveries set for April 2026
U Power Limited has signed a strategic partnership with Thailand’s Whale Logistics Group to deploy up to 1,000 battery-swapping electric truck tractors across the country, advancing the adoption of zero-emission freight transport in Southeast Asia.
The agreement, formalised in late 2025, covers sales of battery-swapping electric heavy trucks and marks a significant commercial expansion for U Power in the region.
Under the terms of the collaboration, U Power’s wholly owned subsidiary, U SWAP Company Limited, will deliver an initial batch of 30 vehicles in April 2026, signalling the commencement of commercial operations in Thailand and laying the groundwork for wider deployment throughout the logistics sector.
Whale Logistics, a leading integrated logistics provider with operations in key strategic areas such as Laem Chabang and the Eastern Economic Corridor, will integrate the battery-swapping truck tractors into its daily operations as part of its “Green Logistics” strategy.
U Power’s proprietary UOTTA battery-swapping technology enables rapid replacement of heavy truck batteries, reducing downtime and supporting more efficient long-haul and yard operations.
The partnership aims to accelerate the transition to sustainable transport by lowering greenhouse gas emissions, improving energy efficiency and optimising operating costs for logistics operators in Thailand and beyond.
Johnny Lee, Chief Executive Officer of U Power, described the collaboration as a major step in building a comprehensive battery-swapping ecosystem for commercial transportation.
He said that the deployment could serve as a replicable commercial model across the ASEAN region, reinforcing U Power’s long-term growth strategy in electric commercial vehicles.
Teerachit Sornjang, Chief Executive Officer of Whale Logistics Group, emphasized the alignment of environmental responsibility and operational efficiency goals and expressed anticipation for the technology’s contribution to sustainable logistics and long-term growth.
The Thailand project builds on earlier commitments by U Power to expand battery-swapping EV infrastructure in Southeast Asia, including a memorandum of understanding signed in 2025 with partners to deploy thousands of battery-swappable heavy trucks and the opening of the region’s first smart swapping station in Phuket.
