ASEAN and China Strengthen Ties with Key Agreements on Online Fraud, Agriculture, and Digital Cooperation
Southeast Asian nations and China focus on joint efforts to tackle online crimes, boost smart agriculture, and enhance people-to-people exchanges.
Leaders of Southeast Asian countries and China have signed several key agreements aimed at deepening their Comprehensive Strategic Partnership during the 27th ASEAN-China Summit held in Vientiane, Laos. The agreements cover a wide range of areas, including combating online fraud and gambling, developing smart agriculture, and creating a sustainable digital ecosystem.
The summit, chaired by Lao Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone, saw leaders adopt five outcome documents. These include a joint statement on tackling telecommunication fraud and online gambling, a crucial move to enhance online security. Another document highlights cooperation in smart agriculture, leveraging technology to boost productivity. Leaders also agreed to deepen people-to-people exchanges and endorsed the ASEAN-China Free Trade Area 3.0 upgrade, marking progress in economic relations.
With China and ASEAN being each other’s key trading partners, these efforts aim to promote peace, stability, and mutual economic growth.
