Bangkok Governor Chadchart Engages with Saudi Ambassador to Enhance Bilateral Relations

In a significant diplomatic engagement, Chadchart Sittipunt, the Governor of Bangkok, met with the Saudi Ambassador to Thailand to explore avenues for enhancing cooperation between Bangkok and Riyadh.
The meeting took place in the Amornphiman Room at Bangkok City Hall, with Pimuk Simaroj, Secretary to the Governor of Bangkok, also in attendance.
During the discussions, Governor Chadchart and the Saudi Ambassador exchanged insights on various potential collaborative initiatives.
A particular emphasis was placed on the prospect of establishing a sister-city relationship, which could foster deeper ties and mutual understanding between the two capitals.
The Saudi Ambassador extended an invitation for Governor Chadchart to visit Riyadh, highlighting the importance of direct engagement between the leadership of both cities.
In response, Governor Chadchart proposed reciprocal visits, inviting both the Governor of Riyadh and the Mayor of Riyadh to Bangkok for further discussions on collaboration.
Saudi Arabia, which has a land area of approximately 2,149,690 square kilometers, has a population of around 33.26 million, as per the latest World Bank data for 2025.
Its capital city is Riyadh, where Arabic is the official language and Islam is the national religion.
Diplomatic relations between Saudi Arabia and Thailand were established on October 1, 1957.
This year marks the 68th anniversary of their diplomatic ties.
Saudi Arabia’s key exports include fuel, plastics, organic chemicals, ships, and fertilizers.
The country operates under an absolute monarchy framework, with the King as the head of state, supported by a Cabinet, and the Prime Minister serving as the head of government.
Thailand, in contrast, has a population of 71.80 million and covers an area of 513,120 square kilometers, according to the same World Bank data.
