Bangkok's National Book Fair Returns with Record Participation
The 53rd National Book Fair and 23rd Bangkok International Book Fair set to showcase two million books and host over 400 publishers.
The 53rd National Book Fair and 23rd Bangkok International Book Fair is scheduled to take place from March 27 to April 7, 2025, at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center in Bangkok, Thailand.
This year, the event will be held under the theme "Yor Yak (Giant), Read Big," organized by the Publishers and Booksellers Association of Thailand (Pubat).
The fair's exhibition space has been expanded to 20,000 square meters to accommodate the increasing number of publishers, which totals around 400 this year.
Attendees will have access to an extensive collection of approximately two million books distributed across 1,200 booths, catering to a wide range of reading interests.
The event will be segmented into seven distinct zones: "Fiction and Literature," "Comics and Teen Books (Book Wonderland)," "Children's Books and Educational Books," "General Books," "Old Books," "International Books," and "Non-Book Items and Board Games." Each zone will offer diverse selections to appeal to different audiences.
In addition to the book displays, the fair will feature more than 10 exhibitions and 100 creative activities.
Notable among these is the "Visiting Giant's House" exhibition, which will highlight a curated list of recommended reads under the theme "That Ordinary Book You Should Try Reading." Another significant exhibition, titled "Thai Book Translation Grant," will present 15 selected books poised for translation into English to enhance international distribution.
The "Book Power Exhibition" will showcase titles recommended by influential figures in Thailand’s soft power sector.
Other highlights include the "Little Read Storyverse: A Universe of Million Stories" exhibition, aimed at children, which will incorporate picture books and various interactive drawing stations.
The "Author's Salon" will offer a platform for independent authors and experts to discuss and share insights into their writing.
For those interested in a break from the hustle and bustle, the fair will introduce Pubat Café, serving premium coffee from respected cafes.
There will also be a dedicated area for visitors to relax and enjoy reading, complemented by traditional Thai massage services.
An additional key event, the "Bangkok Rights Fair 2025," will take place on March 28 and 29, featuring 115 publishers and rights agents from 14 different countries and territories.
The fair aims to facilitate over 200 business matching sessions, fostering international cooperation and rights exchanges in the book industry.
