Bangkok’s Wireless Road Upgrade Enhances Pedestrian Safety and Urban Appeal
BMA and MEA advance a coordinated project to improve accessibility and remove overhead cable clutter in key city areas
Bangkok – The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) has announced ongoing improvements to Wireless Road designed to enhance pedestrian accessibility and safety in the city.
The current phase, which is about thirty-five percent complete, involves upgrading sidewalks from Sarasin Road to Phetchaburi Road in coordination with the Metropolitan Electricity Authority (MEA), which is installing underground power cables.
Contractors are actively working on tree enclosures, drainage systems, and access points along the stretch from Sarasin Road to Ploenchit Road, with work between Ploenchit Road and Phetchaburi Road scheduled to begin around May two thousand twenty-five.
In a related initiative completed in February two thousand twenty-five, the BMA, MEA, and associated network partners removed communication cables from utility poles along a two point one kilometer section from Ploenchit Intersection to Rama the Fourth Road.
Officials describe these measures as part of a broader strategy to protect residents, improve public safety, and enhance the visual appeal and order of Bangkok’s urban environment.
