This initiative, part of Krungsri's medium-term business plan (2024-26), aims to boost its ASEAN network.
Ninlawan Jerraboon, Krungsri's Head of Transaction Banking Group, emphasized the advantages for travelers and merchants.
The expansion aligns with the Bank of Thailand's (BOT) ASEAN Payment Connectivity initiative, which has successfully integrated instant retail payment systems between Thailand and Laos.
The BOT announced a phased rollout for QR code cross-border payments beginning in April 2024.
The initiative aims to increase regional economic potential, driven by growing adoption of digital payments in ASEAN.
