Malaysian Tourists Cross the Border to Join "Hatyai Countdown 2024" Celebration
Malaysian tourists have started flocking to Hat Yai in Songkhla for the "Hatyai Countdown 2024" to ring in the New Year.
The district's downtown, especially Sanehanusorn Road, is buzzing with activity. Visitors are arriving by bus, van, and car, creating significant traffic, and local hotels are fully booked for the weekend.
The main event, organized by the Hat Yai municipality, will take place on December 31st on Suphasan Rangsan Road. The president of the local hotel association, Mr. Sitthipong Sitthiphatprapa, expects over 20,000 international tourists daily from December 29-31, with an estimated 600 million baht in spending.
The influx of Thai tourists during the holiday is also set to rise, potentially generating over one billion baht in the economy.
