MAPIM and IMAR Collaborate with NGOs to Enhance Economy at Malaysia-Thailand Border
Joint efforts focus on economic growth and peace in border regions
The Malaysian Consultative Council of Islamic Organisation (MAPIM) and the Secretariat on Regional Madani Initiatives (IMAR) are bringing together NGOs from Malaysia and Thailand to foster economic development and peace in the border regions between the two countries.
MAPIM president Mohd Azmi Abdul Hamid highlighted the area's potential in tourism and agriculture, noting Malaysia's expertise in halal food and animal husbandry and Thailand's robust tourism sector.
He emphasized that Malaysian and Thai NGOs and entrepreneurs should exchange knowledge for mutual benefit.
Mohd Azmi made these remarks during the 'Role of the Thai-Malaysian Border Civil Society in Developing the Village Economy' seminar, attended by over 100 participants from both countries.
The event aimed to facilitate meetings among stakeholders to plan border area development projects.
Mohd Azmi expressed hopes for the launch of a collaborative project next year.
