Parents of students attending Thai schools spent a total of 2.75 billion baht on learning materials, uniforms, and shoes in 2024, reflecting a 1.9% increase year on year.
Expenses on cram schools and special training decreased by 0.7% to 1.49 billion baht due to the sluggish economy, causing parents to cut extracurricular activity costs.
However, expenses are expected to rebound with economic improvement.
The report also highlighted a rise in the popularity of international schools in Thailand, with 248 currently operational—121 in Bangkok and 127 in other provinces.
Eight new international schools were opened this year, a 3.33% increase year on year.
The competition has intensified, especially in outer Bangkok areas, driven by property sales to wealthy customers from CLMV countries, leading to higher demand for international schools.
The ten international schools with the highest tuition fees in Thailand include Shrewsbury International School Bangkok at 1,109,400 baht/year and Bangkok Patana School at 905,300 baht/year.
