Thai Beauty Industry: A Leader in Growth for 2025

The sector has shown remarkable expansion, establishing itself within the health and wellness landscape.
The Thai beauty industry has emerged as a high-performing sector over the past five years, driven by a growing health and wellness consciousness among consumers, particularly within younger age groups.

According to data from the Department of Business Development, the industry is now recognized as one of the top 10 promising businesses for 2025 in the broader health and wellness category.

The beauty industry is segmented into three main categories: specialized clinics, such as hospitals and consultation services; dental clinics providing various treatment options; and general beauty services including weight management, skincare, hair and nail care, and hair removal, as well as consultative services.

Between 2020 and 2024, the industry saw a marked increase in business establishments and registered capital:

2020: 527 establishments, 1,302 million baht registered capital.

2021: 589 establishments, 1,775 million baht registered capital.

2022: 957 establishments, 3,472 million baht registered capital.

2023: 1,161 establishments, 5,523 million baht registered capital.

2024: 1,135 establishments, 5,547 million baht registered capital.

In terms of financial performance, the sector has consistently generated robust revenue over the past three years (2021-2023), with annual revenues surpassing 300 billion baht:

2021: 304,724 million baht revenue.

2022: 354,823 million baht revenue.

2023: 363,145 million baht revenue.

Currently, there are 6,621 registered beauty businesses in Thailand, with a total registered capital of 190,160 million baht.

The breakdown is as follows:

Limited Companies: 5,994 (90.53%), with 153,879 million baht registered capital.

Limited Partnerships/Registered Ordinary Partnerships: 582 (8.79%), with 758 million baht registered capital.

Public Limited Companies: 45 (0.68%), with 35,523 million baht registered capital.

Small businesses lead the market, consisting of 6,191 establishments (93.51%) with a registered capital of 49,560 million baht, followed by medium-sized businesses with 238 establishments (3.59%) and 24,275 million baht registered capital, and large businesses with 192 establishments (2.90%) and 116,325 million baht registered capital.

Foreign investment in the Thai beauty sector has reached 2,799 million baht, primarily from Malaysia, China, and Singapore, contributing 201 million baht, 182 million baht, and 94 million baht, respectively.

Auramon Supthaweethum, director general of the Business Development Department at the Ministry of Commerce, attributes the sector's growth to changing consumer behavior influenced by social media and a growing acceptance of self-care and cosmetic procedures.

Additionally, advancements in medical technology, the availability of innovative beauty solutions, minimally invasive treatments, and high safety standards have expanded the customer base to include men, young professionals, seniors interested in anti-aging procedures, and international clients.

These developments highlight the significant opportunities available for operators within Thailand's beauty sector.
