Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra led a ceremony to honor King Bhumibol Adulyadej at the King Rama IX Memorial Park in Bangkok, marking the eighth anniversary of the king’s passing. October 13 is commemorated as King Rama IX Memorial Day and recently renamed as Nawamindra Maharaj Day by his son, King Maha Vajiralongkorn.
Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra, along with cabinet members, held a ceremony at the King Rama IX Memorial Park in Bangkok’s Dusit District on Sunday, placing garlands to honor King Bhumibol Adulyadej.
This marked the eighth anniversary of the king's passing.
The ceremony was attended by various agencies and public guests who paid their respects at the park, where safety and cleanliness were maintained by staff and volunteers.
October 13 was declared 'King Rama IX Memorial Day' to commemorate the king's 70-year reign and his significant contributions to Thailand.
Recently, the Cabinet renamed this day 'Nawamindra Maharaj Day,' a name given by King Bhumibol's son, King Maha Vajiralongkorn.
This name reflects King Bhumibol’s status as the ninth great king of the Chakri dynasty.
