The Government Lottery Office in Thailand is introducing three-digit lottery tickets in a six-month trial starting October 17, 2024, to combat ticket overpricing and black-market sales. Tickets will cost 20 baht each, with sales through 400 shops, and winners can claim prizes via digital methods. This initiative, part of a broader strategy including existing digital six-digit tickets, aims for fairer lottery access nationwide.
The Government Lottery Office (GLO) in Thailand is launching a six-month pilot project to introduce three-digit lottery tickets, aiming to address the issues of overpriced and black-market sales.
The initiative, starting October 17, 2024, will allow consumers to buy lottery numbers from 000 to 999 for 20 baht each, with sales conducted through 400 participating shops nationwide and payment available only via digital methods.
This move follows a phased approach to regulate lottery sales, including digital six-digit tickets via the Pao Tang app.
The new three-digit tickets offer prize winnings across four categories and are expected to increase fair access to lottery numbers.
The GLO, led by Lt Col Noon Sansanakom, plans to assess the impact of this initiative on ticket sales and the market, with a full launch planned for April 2025.
