Thailand Trade Deficit Narrows Sharply in May as High-Tech Exports Extend Growth Run
Thailand’s trade deficit narrowed to 5.71 billion US dollars in May 2026 from a record 10.02 billion dollars in April, supported by a 10.6 percent rise in exports to 34.33 billion dollars. Exports have now expanded for 23 consecutive months, driven largely by demand for high-tech and artificial intelligence-related products, although officials remain cautious as the cumulative deficit for the first five months still reached 25.21 billion dollars.
