UK and Thailand Mark 170 Years of Diplomatic Relations with Special Events
British Ambassador announces series of activities to celebrate longstanding bilateral ties
In a gesture to strengthen and celebrate the long-standing diplomatic relationship between Thailand and the United Kingdom, British Ambassador to Thailand, Mark Gooding, has announced a year-long series of events.
These activities mark the 170th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between the two nations.
At the '170th Anniversary Launch Party' held at the Grand Postal Building in Bangkok, Ambassador Gooding highlighted the significance of the UK-Thailand strategic partnership.
The event was attended by notable figures including Thailand's Minister of Social Development and Human Security, Varawut Silpa-archa, and Minister of Justice, Pol Col Tawee Sodsong.
The UK Embassy plans to conduct a 'roadshow' across various regions in Thailand, aiming to engage local communities, particularly focusing on student interactions to discuss future potential and opportunities between the countries.
Among the planned activities are a UK fair and music performances, including those by the UK military and the London Symphony Orchestra, as well as business-oriented events.
The UK was pioneering in Europe as the first country to establish a strategic partnership with Thailand.
Ambassador Gooding emphasized that this strategic partnership is designed to further collaborate in areas such as healthcare and genomics, science and technology, and international security.
He stressed the importance of adapting to global changes in the 21st century while pursuing economic growth and public safety.
These events reflect the ongoing efforts to enhance bilateral cooperation and dialogue between Thailand and the United Kingdom, building on shared interests and looking towards future collaborations.
