Work on light rail transit system in Khon Kaen expected to begin in 2025
Construction of Khon Kaen's light rail transit (LRT) system is slated to start in 2025, beginning with a 4.4-kilometer section near Bueng Kaen Nakhon Reservoir.
With the feasibility study concluded, the two-year build requires a 650 million baht investment, aiming for a 2027 launch. This marks the first LRT outside Bangkok.
Following "Tram Noy" test runs, plans for a 22.8-kilometer LRT line from Samran to Tha Phra, costing 26.963 billion baht, are advancing. Negotiations are underway with banks for financing, while surveys proceed.
Developers expect to finalize details and commence construction in 2025, with operations starting in 2028.
