Cambodia Introduces Visa-Free Entry for 11 Countries
New policy boosted tourism and simplified travel for regional visitors.
In October 2024, Cambodia introduced visa-free entry for citizens from 11 countries, marking a significant step in enhancing regional connectivity and boosting tourism. Travelers from Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia, Malaysia, and Seychelles, among others, were no longer required to secure a visa in advance to explore Cambodia’s cultural and natural treasures.
The move came after Cambodia experienced a 22.5 percent increase in international visitors during the first eight months of 2024, reaching 4.3 million tourists. Minister of Tourism Huot Hak expressed optimism at the time, stating that the visa-free policy would further drive tourism growth and position Cambodia as a must-visit destination in Southeast Asia.
The visa exemption applied to citizens from Thailand, Brunei, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Maldives, Myanmar, Philippines, Seychelles, Singapore, and Vietnam. This streamlined entry process eliminated visa fees and paperwork, making travel to Cambodia faster and more affordable.
From the ancient splendor of Angkor Wat to the vibrant streets of Phnom Penh, Cambodia offered visitors an unforgettable experience steeped in history, culture, and breathtaking landscapes. The policy aligned with the country’s broader tourism strategy, which aimed to create seamless travel experiences and attract more international guests.
